Dubai: The former world number one has been beset with injury problems over the last few years and only just returned from a lengthy lay-off.
But he has once again been struck down with the European Tour announcing early on Friday Woods has withdrawn from the tournament with a bad back. It is a second disappointment in a matter of days after missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open last week.
The 14-time major winner struggled to a score of 76 in his first round, four over par, and could not force his way back into the reckoning on Friday. It was just the 16th time in his 328 starts on the US circuit that he has failed to make the weekend sessions.
