Sporadic Clash Rocks Basanti


Basanti: After Communal violence in Baduria-Basirhat area, again sporadic violence rocks Basanti on Sunday evening. According to sources, clash erupted between groups suddenly on Sunday evening at Basanti in North 24 parganas. Earlier on July, Communal clashes broke out in Baduria in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal over an objectionable post on Facebook.

According to local sources, Kasem Siddiqi, brother of Toha Siddiqi hold a public meeting at Sibganj area. After returning from the meeting, Kasem stepped out from car for few minutes to take some biscuits. At that time, he engaged in brawl with some locals. After that clashes spread across the area. Police rushed to the spot to handle the situation but failed to control. OC of Jibontola Police station was injured in this clash.

RAF deployed to control the situation in the wake of clashes. Basanti is still tense after Sunday violence. RAF was being rushed to the state to assist the local police in containing the situation.
