Speculations high over Manjhi’s meeting with Modi

New Delhi: Amid the rising political tussle between Chief minister Jiten Ram Manjhi and Nitish Kumar, the former today called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Janata Dal (United) leaders are attempting to put Party leader and former CM Nitish Kumar to the top post.

Bihar assembly speaker Uday Narayan Chowdhury has recognized Kumar as the leader of the JD (U) legislature party though Manjhi said, “Manjhi’s boat never sinks.” In a letter to governor K N Tripathi, 130 JD (U) MLAs assured him of their support to Nitish Kumar. The party has already asked Mr. Manjhi to step down.

However, Manjhi’s loyalists have insisted on a test of strength in the Bihar Assembly and sparked off controversy by saying that they will seek the support of BJP if needed.

Manjhi has already signaled that if he is forced out of power, he may keep the option open to switch over to BJP. Twenty ministers who are known to be loyal to Nitish Kumar, have resigned after they came to know about Majhi’s Proposal to dissolve the State Assembly.

Drawing up allegations of betrayal against Manjhi JD (U) Chief Sharad Yadav, while speaking to media said, “Manjhi has bit the hand that fed him. He has wronged the party. Now the party will decide. It won’t stop.”

Now Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi will be deciding on the future of  Bihar after consulting the BJP led NDA Government. The Bihar elections which are scheduled in the later part of this year, BJP seems confident of clinching power in the state following its winning spree in the last Lok Sabha Elections and its aftermath.
