Special security cells for NE people in Delhi

New Delhi: Concerned about the rampant attacks on the people of North Eastern states in the national capital, the Centre has set up a special security cell and asked CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and UGC (University Grants Commission) to incorporate lessons and subjects about the region, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju said on Wednesday.

Rijiju said that the Centre is concerned about the racial attack and discrimination faced by the north eastern people in Delhi. A committee named ‘Bezbaruah committee’ has been set up to address problems faced by the people of north east, he added.

The people from north eastern states due to their ethnic looks and features often become the target of attacks and ridicule in the national capital.
