Priyanka Dutta, Haldia: There is a famous quote – ‘Curse Me, or Hate Me, I Will Still Be There When You Need Me’. ‘Sparsha’– a great initiative taken by Haldia Police, justified the well said quote. Well, Let me describe you what is ‘Sparsha’.
‘Sparsha’- Police With Human Face – Haldia Police is going to launch two programmes in the Haldia Mela, one is ‘Sparsha’, best system till the date in Haldia Town, on the contrary in the state on the Haldia Mela which is going to be launched by MIC Transport Shri Suvendu Adhikary on Friday.
‘Sparsha’ ( Human Touch) will work like – Four civic Volunteers will roam around in each ward for twenty fours. During night, they will work as local anti – crime personnel and parallely in day time they will visit the house of elderly, aged, specially challenged person and will provide all kind of assistance in their daily life like a family member used to do- consulting doctors, buying medicines, marketing, paying electric bills etc. This programme has been named ‘Sparsha’.
While speaking with Kolkata 24×7.com, Additional SP Haldia, Qazi Samsuddin Ahmed affirms the project like “ Police With Human Face.” Further he adds,‘ Dushter Domon Sisther Palon. . Our SP Sir guided a lot and Honourable MIC Shri Suvendu Adhikary inspired.”
A police officer’s first order of business is to serve and protect. In fact, the phrase “serve and protect” is common in the credo. Many believe that the police should give up their brute type tactics for a more civilized and humanized approach, while others feel that the police should crack down on the most insignificant of offences to type and disparage crimes that are more serious.
Q.S. Ahmed claims that “Those persons will be “ Jom’’ ( Satan ) for criminals in night, while they will be “ Son” for needy elderly people in day time.”
We must say that Police officers play a central role in the law enforcement system. They monitor criminal activity, take part in community patrols, respond to emergency calls, issue tickets, make arrests, investigate crimes and testify in court as needed, but this kind of initiative will surly help the society and will be the hallmark of West Bengal Police.
