South City College Agitated On Exam Permission, Protest Block Traffic In Gariahat

Kolkata: Students of Heramba Chandra College which is commonly known as South City College staged a demonstration in Golpark area and thus creating a major traffic chaos on Friday afternoon. The students demanded relaxation of norms for allowing them to attend the university examination.

Over 400 students staged demonstration blocking the traffic, that there was a faulty record in the attendance and on the basis of which the students were debarred from appearing in the university examination. They placed the traffic rails on the road to obstruct traffic flow. Many patients were also affected due to the sudden blockade. Singer Anjan Dutt was also found stranded in the traffic.

The students later around 3.30 pm withdrew their agitation as the students were told that the higher education minister Partha Chatterjee will later meet them to hear to their demands.

In another incident in north Kolkata,, students of Gurudas College also staged demonstration also demanding relaxation in attendance rules.
