Columbia:  Three people have been shot dead and another has been wounded in a shooting in Ravenel, Charleston Country, South Carolina, officials say.

Officers arrived at the scene of the shooting on Tuesday afternoon to find the bodies of two women and a girl, shot to death in a mobile home during an apparent domestic violence episode.

Police have identified Kenneth Ancrum, 23, as the suspect who was later charged with three counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

Around 1:30 p.m., deputies with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the 5000 block of Savannah Highway following a report of gunshots and a possibly domestic-related disturbance.

Officers reported seeing Ancrum trying to leave the mobile home park in his vehicle with an injured woman. They immediately arrested the suspect while attempting to drag the woman into a car.

“The deputy challenged the suspect while in his vehicle,” officials said. “After the suspect was detained and taken into custody, the deputy discovered a female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the leg.”

Police later dispatched more deputies to the scene, who discovered the dead bodies of the three victims. “As our deputies continued to search the residence for additional victims, they found a 4-month-old baby who didn’t appear to be harmed,” CCSO officials said. “The infant child was turned over to the Department of Social Services for proper placement.”

Police say that Ancrum was in a relationship with the wounded woman, who was hospitalized at Medical University Hospital for treatment. The suspect is being held at Charleston County jail and will appear at 2 p.m. Wednesday for a bond hearing.

It is estimated that currently there are between 270 million and 300 million guns in the US, about one gun for one person, according to the New York Daily News.
