Mumbai: As fiery Protea batsman tore through Indian bowling attack, South Africa clinched their first ever ODI series victory against India on Indian soil, by defeating Dhoni and Co. by 214 runs in Wankhede.
South Africa posted a mammoth 439 for 4 in 50 overs, In chase of the record total, India lost two quick wickets before Shikhar Dhawan (60) and Ajiknya Rahane (87) brightened India’s hopes with a 112-run stand in just 14.5 overs. But young bowler Kagiso Rabada sclaped Dhawan. Rabada had earlier removed Virat Kohli for seven. Rabada then went on to caslte Suresh Raina with a perfect yorker.
For India, only Rahane put up some resistance with an enterprising knock of 87 off just 58 balls before getting out to Dale Steyn. India were bundled out for 224 runs in 36 overs, losing the match by 214 runs – their second biggest loss in terms of runs in ODIs.
