Sonika Death Case: Actor Vikram Released On Conditional Bail


Kolkata: Actor Vikram Chattopadhyay is released on conditional bail in connection with the car crash which killed model Sonika Chauhan. Alipore sessions court granted the bail on Wednesday.

He was in judicial custody for 19 days.Vikram’s lawyer Anirban Guha Thakurta said that the order proves that Vikram is not influential, as most of his friends gave statements against his favour. However, the public prosecutor argued over the bail order.

He was arrested from his Kasba residence late night on July 7. On July 10, he was sent to 14 days judicial remand. On 12 July the Calcutta High Court dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of actor Vikram Chatterjee.

Vikram Chatterjee’s counsel had stated in court that since the chargesheet was submitted on July 19, more time should be given.

Chatterjee has been carrying charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder on his head. The charges against Chatterjee come under non-bailable offence of the IPC. He was also charged with dangerous driving.
