‘Sonia Gandhi wanted To Clamp Emergency In 2011-12’

Thiruvananthapuram: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Saturday claimed that Congress president Sonia Gandhi had contemplated declaring Emergency in the country during 2011-12.

Addressing reporters here on the 41st anniversary of Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi, Swamy said: “Sonia was planning to declare another political Emergency in the country by whipping up cooked-up rumours on Hindutva terror groups. But the plan did not work since then Army chief VK Singh refused to toe her line and the efforts to create a scare about Hindutva terror did not work out.”

Speaking on the contentious Ayodhya issue, Swamy said Muslims should be given land on the other side of Saryu river to build Babri Masjid. He said Muslims should agree to a “Krishna package”, whereby they let Hindus rebuild at least three temples of importance in Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura as “recompense” for thousands of temples allegedly destroyed under the Mughal rule.

“Like how Krishna persuaded Kauravas to give at least five villages to the Pandavas, I request Muslims to let Hindus rebuild at least three temples of importance in Ayodya, Kashi and Mathura.”

Training his guns on former Union minister P Chidambaram once again, Swamy said the former was sure to land in prison in the Aircel Maxis case. “He and his family members will get a prison term in the case. Soon the Congress party will have its working committee meetings in Tihar prison,” he said.

Swamy also reiterated that Sunanda Pushkar, wife of MP Shashi Tharoor, did not die a natural death. He added that Tharoor must be knowing who killed Sunanda. “The Delhi Police’s investigation in this case is progressing and I hope the truth will be out soon. There was an injection mark and bruises all over her body at the time of her death,” he said.
