Pyongyang: The exclusive retreat features luxury villas, surrounding a private palace reserved for Kim Jong-un. It has a boatshed for yachts and jetskis, and nearby is a private railway station, an air strip and a sports stadium. And the food woes which trouble so many North Koreans are no issue here Kim Jong-un is reputed to feast on 10 bottles of wine a day.
Ermanno Furlanis, a chef who cooked for Kim Jong-il, the previous leader, said delicacies were imported from around the world.
The North Korean ruler was so willing to splash the cash that he actually flew out Mr Furlanis’ kitchen for him to use. Ex-NBA star Dennis Rodman –who has struck up a bizarre friendship with Kim Jong-un has visited the resort.
“It’s like going to Hawaii or Ibiza, but he’s the only one that lives there,” Mr Rodman told the Sun. “If you drink a bottle of tequila, it’s the best tequila. Everything you want, he has the best.”
“He’s got 50 to 60 people around him all the time – just normal people, drinking cocktails and laughing the whole time.”
Down the coast at the port city of Wonsan, Kim Jong-un has a floating pleasure palace described in detail to Daily Star Online.
Mr Furlanis recalled a pontoon with a swimming pool in the middle, and a building several-storeys high next door, with water slides on top.
