Baruipur: Snake venom worth about Rs 25-crore and wanted Six traffickers have been arrested from Baruipur on Thursday. According to a tip off officials of the state forest department today held a gang of wildlife traffickers who was trying to sell off a consignment of snake venom.
The officials held six from Puratan Bazar and Khodar Bazar areas at Baruipur. They have been identified as Arabinda Dhara, Ajitesh Chatterjee, Shankar Prasad Bauri, Zakir Laskar, Pravash Sardar, and Ansarul Molla.
They were carrying the venom in six high-quality crystal jars. Officials said that the gang had smuggled in the venom through Bangladesh. Investigators will produce them in court tomorrow.
