Kolkata: The drug traffickers using Kolkata as transit route to smuggle Yaba drugs in Bangladesh. The demand of this drugs are highest in Bangladesh.In April this year, a female player in Bangladesh was held with 14,000 yaba drugs. Yaba drugs in Bangladesh is also smuggled from Myanmar. Kolkata police STF had arrested six Yaba drug traffickers.
There is one Bangladeshi among the arrested persons. The Bangladeshi drug smuggler Mohammad Radu Ahmed was a resident of Chapai-Nawabganj area. STF officials revealed that that this Raju is the kingpin of the gang. Under his leadership, the drugs were being taken to Bangladesh. More than 2000 Yaba Tablets (189 gm) have been found from their possession.
What is Yaba tablet ?
This Yaba tablet is also known as crazy drugs, STF official said. It contains Mathamphetamine and caffeine. It is also called ‘Madness Drugs’. They look like small granules which can be smuggled easily.
The use of this drugs in Bangladesh has increased for several years. These are originally brought from Myanmar. These are usually brought in from Myanmar to Indian through the North-East states such as Assam and Manipur. It then comes to Kolkata and then goes to Bangladesh.
Earlier this type of trafficking was found more than once. Prior to this, several times information of this racket was received. This drug is known by different names in Bangladesh, which are, ‘pill’, ‘Lal’, ‘Baba’, ‘Chakka’, ‘Guti’ or ‘Bori’.
In 2016, 359 Rohingyas were arrested for the trafficking of Yaba. The investigators said that the demand of these drugs are the highest among the youths.
