Smuggler Arrested FromIndo-Bangladesh border

Nadia: The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a Bangladeshi smuggler from the International Check Post (ICP) in Gede, Nadia, while he was attempting to cross over into Bangladesh with silver ornaments and other contraband on Sunday.

Among the items seized were 237 silver anklets valued at around Rs 1,58,670, Bangladeshi Taka 22,880, Rs 3,070, an android phone, cosmetics, pan masala and tobacco items as well as clothes.

Rahman was later handed over to the Kishanganj police station with the seized items. The man, who was carrying a valid Bangladeshi passport and visa, has been identified as Md Habibur Rahaman of South Shemulia village in Dohar, Dhaka.

“He was an outgoing passenger and after a search, troops of the 113Bn BSF recovered silver ornaments weighing 3.87 kg and other items from his person and luggage. He had hidden silver anklets under kneecaps that he had on. The smuggler was immediately detained,” a senior BSF officer said.
