The accused were booked when they were trying to smuggle the arms and ammunition to Bangladesh yesterday evening, he said. “When searched packets containing two country-made pistols along with four magazines, seven live rounds and Indian genuine currency amounting to Rs 3,600 were seized from them,” the official said.
It is reported that the two victims were residents of Malda and Murshidabad districts, and were trying to smuggle the consignment to somebody across the border in Bangladesh, he said.
Further Police is investigating whether a big gang working behind them or not. The duo along with the seized arms and ammunitions have been handed over to Baishnabnagar police station.
