Smriti Irani Joins Atalji’s ‘Asthi Kalash Yatra’ From Taratala In Kolkata


Kolkata: Union Textile minister Smriti Irani joins Atalji’s ‘Asthi Kalash Yatra’ from Taratala in Kolkata. The ‘Asthi Kalash Yatra’ of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been started on Thursday morning 8am and it will head towards Gangasagar through Hazra, following Diamond Harbour and finally will reach Gangasagar where the ashes of Vajpayee will be immersed. State BJP President Dilip Ghosh and BJP MP Roopa Ganguly have also joined the procession.

The BJP party will be organising ‘Asthi kalash yatras’ in different states to immerse the ashes in 100 rivers across the country.

The state BJP president and other leaders of the party will immerse Vajpayee’s ashes in the Ganges. However, apart from that, the proposals of such like immersion in the ghats of Navadwip, Tribeni, Farakka and in the river Mahananda at Siliguri are being reviewed.

Earlier,the state BJP general secretary Sayantan Basu said, “The prayer meet will be held on 29 August. But we are unable to fix it yet. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other political personalities will be invited.”

Meanwhile, the BJP has taken an initiation to translate Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poems into Bengali. It should be noted that after the demise of the late national leader national mourning was announced across the country. In Kolkata BJP headquarter members, supporters and activists of the party gathered together to pay tribute to the great statesman of the era, all work and activities of the state BJP office were called off to mourn the death of Vajpayee.
