Sixth standard student gives birth in Orissa


Bhubaneshwar: A sixth standard girl of Umuri Ashram School surprisingly as well as shockingly gave birth to a baby on February 4. She is a student of a state run residential school for minority section students, in Jeypore block of Koraput District. The school is located at a distance of 500 km from Bhubaneshwar.

The Head Master Kailash Verma and Hostel Superintendent Sabita Guru were arrested on Sunday after preliminary investigation by the police for negligence of duty, not informing the administration, and trying to suppress the matter, said Jeypore Sub-Divisional Police Officer Rajendra Senapati.

After the school authorities came to know about the incident, they took the baby and the minor mother to her village in Upperkendi which is under the jurisdiction of Semiliguda police and left her with her parents.

The Welfare Extension officer of Jeypore Block after getting information informed the Jeypore police on Sunday, after which the police jumped into action and arrested the teachers.
