Kolkata: Kolkata police’s Special investigation team (SIT) on Wednesday has seized the mobile phones of Abesh Dasgupta’s fifteen friends. Kolkata police informed that they investigate the chats of mobile phones and also said that some messages may be deleted from these phones.
Earlier, Kolkata police have formed a special investigation team (SIT) on Monday to probe the unnatural death of teenager Aabesh Dasgupta (17) at upscale Sunny Park apartment in Ballygunge on 23 July evening.
Joint police commissioner (crime) Vishal Garg has been made the head of the SIT of which divisional commissioner (detective department) Nilu Sherpa is a member. The move came after deceased Aabesh’s mother Rimhjim Dasgupta, maternal uncle Raja Dasgupta, and a few other family members called on the Kolkata Police commissioner Rajeev Kumar at Lalbazar today afternoon demanding an impartial probe.
They spoke to Kumar and Garg for over two hours during which the police officers asked Rimjhim what Aabesh had told her while leaving home on the fateful day and whether she was aware about any dispute between Aabesh and any of his friends. Soon after the bereaved family left Lalbazar, police announced the formation of the SIT to probe the death of the class XII student at Sunny Park apartment where he had gone to attend the birthday party of a friend.
