Siuri: Chaos broke out at Birbhum’s Mayureshwar Brahman Bahra village after a 30-
year-old man’s body was recovered from a house.
The body of Brindaban Mondal was found from his house on Monday while his two
sisters were found lying on the ground with their wrists slit. The police have
detained the two sisters Baneswari Mondal and Pinaki Mondal and also their father
Prabhat Mondal for questioning.
According to locals, they heard a loud scream from Brindaban’s house at late night.
They rushed to find that the house was filled with smoke inside. Some parts of the
house was on fire. The locals doused the flames. After entering the house, they
found Brindaban’s body. They also found his unmarried sisters lying in a pool of
blood with their slits cut.
The neighbours informed that some part of the house was burnt. They informed the
Mayureshwar police who rushed to the spot and rescued the two sisters and admitted
them to the Santhia hospital. Their father has been detained.
According to the police, Brindaban was the teacher of a primary school in Murari
Marutiya village. He had come to his house on the occasion of Janmashtami. But
questions are already cropping up about his mysterious death. It is yet to be
ascertained as to how did their house get on fire. The house has been locked down
Questions also arise that how did the sisters escape and who had slit their wrists.
Where were their father when the incident occured late at night. Why did he not
scream much before his daughters screamed which alerted the villagers.
According to the police, the house has been locked down for investigation. The
police, after primary inspections, presumes that after killing their elder brother,
the two sisters attempted to commit suicide. The officials of the district police
visited the spot.
