Sinha demands reservation for women in state police

Kolkata: BJP State President Rahul Sinha has demanded 33% reservation for the women in state police. Sinha welcomed the central government’s decision to reserve 33% seats for women in the police forces of Delhi and other Union Territories. Sinha urged the state government to implement the reservation in lieu of a rise in violence against women in the state. He said that the growing cases of rape and molestation in the state, requires a large number of lady personnel in the force, as women find it difficult to reveal details to the male officers.

Taking a jibe at CM Mamata Banerjee, he said that as the CM is reluctant to stand besides the victims, she should at least implement the reservation to provide a sense of security among the women.
