Silence at Maidan:EB cricketer dies due to on field collision


Kolkata: In a tragic incident a budding cricketer aged 19, died at a private hospital in Kolkata on Monday, after he got severely injured during a match. He has been under treatment in the hospital for the last three days.

The cricketer named as Ankit Raj Keshari was a resident of Bansdroni area of the city, used to play for East Bengal. He was injured during a match between East Bengal and Bhawanipur while trying to grab a catch. The CAB has been monitoring his treatment and doctors did their best to save a young promising life, but as god wished otherwise, the Ankit died failing all the efforts.

Ankit’s death reminds the cricket lovers of another tragic incident in which Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes died in a Sydney hospital surrounded by family and friends, three days before his 26th birthday.

The batsman from Macksville, New South Wales, never recovered from a devastating head injury he sustained after a ball delivered by bowler Sean Abbott struck him in the back of the head while he was playing first-class cricket at the Sydney Cricket Ground .
