Shutdown In Kashmir, Public Life Affected

Srinagar: The Valley, especially South Kashmir seems to have transformed into a
‘battlefield’ over the shutdown called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL). As a
result of this, the normal life is completely disrtupted in Jammu and Kashmir.

The shops, business establishments, schools and colleges, petrol pumps are closed
since morning. The JRL called for the shutdown to protest against the killings
taking place in the Valley, especially in south Kashmir. JRL has claimed that it
has been turned into a ‘battlefield’ by the government forces.

Public life is affected. Only the light motor vehicles could be seen plying on the
busy roads. Most of the government employees remained absent, as per a witness.

Security has been tightened to prevent from any untoward incident taking place like
hold-free demonstrations.
