New Delhi: Political parties condemned the ghastly attack on the CRPF convoy in Awantipura in Pulwama in Jammu and Kasmir. Sonia Gandhi tweeted that “I’m shocked, outraged & deeply grieved by the barbarous attack on CRPF convoy in J&K. Our brave CRPF personnel died serving the nation selflessly, at the hands of cowardly terrorists and their sacrifice will not be forgotten. My heart goes out to loved ones of each&every victim.I share their pain with all my heart.I sincerely hope that those responsible for this dastardly terror attack will be brought to justice&made to pay for this appaling act, that goes against every tenet of humanity.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the sacrifices of our brave soldiers ‘will not go in vain’. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the terrorists will get an unforgettable lesson for the attack. Pakistan-backed terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claimed responsibility for the attack which targetted a 70-vehicle convoy of the CRPF consisting of 2500 personnel and killing 20.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Rajnath Singh is slated to visit Pulwama on Friday. While former Chief Minister of J&K and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti said that ‘no words are enough to condemn the gruesome attack’, Congress’ Randeep Surjewala grabbed the opportunity to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
