Update: BCCI cancelled the meeting after Shiv Sena protest.
Mumbai: The members of Shiv Sena stormed the board’s headquarters at Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, shouting slogans against Pakistan. The board presidents are meeting to discuss reviving cricket ties between the two nations. Mumbai police have detained around 20 Shiv Sena activists. Police said they have brought the situation under control and beefed up security.
Shouting ‘Pakistan hai hai’, Shiv Sena activists gheraoed Shashank Manohar in his office shortly before the meeting could start. They were carrying saffron flags of shiv Sena and black flags to condemn resumption of Indo-Pak cricketing ties.
Shiv Sena activists told Mr. Manohar that BCCI should not resume ties with Pakistan as hundreds of innocent Mumbai citizens lost their lives in the 26/11 terror attacks.
