Kolkata: Star Bollywood actor and Rajya Sabha MP, Mithun Chakraborty is likely to skip Trinamool’s poll campaign for the upcoming 2016 Bidhan Sabha elections, said sources.
The actor currently under CBI scanner for his alleged role in the multi-crore Saradha scam has so far kept a low-profile and avoided hobnobbing with the ruling party. Despite being elected in Rajya Sabha on TMC ticket he has so far skipped the parliament sessions. Not only that, he even maintains a distance with ‘Didi’.
The recent change in Mithun Chakraborty’s behaviour has sparked speculation that the actor is trying to part ways with TMC, because of chit fund taint. The central investigating agency CBI already mounted up their operations to persecute the alleged leaders of the state ruling party. May be the actor is haunted by fear psychosis in this regard.
West Bengal’s chief minister and TMC supremo Mamata has openly accused the Centre of using CBI as a tool to manipulate and create fear among her party leadership.
Mamata addressing a gathering of Jamiat Ulama-E-Hind in Kolkata’s Shahid Minar on Thursday said. “The Centre is using CBI to scare us, Mithun Chakraborty has been living in fear since. He is even scared of talking to me.”
On the other hand ramping up attack on the Modi government, Trinamool leader Sudip Bannerje said that like Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, Mithun too is a victim of intolerance.
However, while speculations are ripe and allegations-counter allegations are made, Mithun has kept silent and avoided any controversy so far. The actor has reportedly conveyed his decision to keep away from the campaign to the aprty leadership, forcing Mamata to portray him a victim of central propaganda.
