Kolkata: Police have asked cricketer Mohammad Shami’s brother Mohammad Hasib to be at Lalbazar on April 18 in connection with a complaint filed by Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan.
Jahan alleged that Shami wanted her to have physical relations with his brother, but the cricketer rubbished his wife’s allegations of rape against his brother, saying he has enough evidence to prove his innocence.
The detective department took over the investigations. Hasib did not turn up at Lalbazar when he was called on April 14. The call has triggered speculations on whether the police would question Shami, who is in town for the IPL.
Charges of rape, attempt to murder, poisoning, torture, assault and criminal intimidation have been slapped on Shami and his relatives.
