SFI calls for students’ strike in North Dinajpur

Kaliagunj: Students Federation of India (SFI) has called for a students’ strike at Kaliagunj in North Dinajpur. SFI activists alleged that they were not allowed to file their nomination papers for the upcoming students’ union elections.

General Secretary of North Dinajpur SFI, Pranesh Sarkar said, “Friday was scheduled for drawing nomination forms. But when our supporters went TMCP barred us from drawing our nomination forms.”

The strike has been called to protest against the process in which TMCP is forcibly trying to get hold of the Students’ Union with the help of Police and administration.

The schools of Kaliagunj Block witnessed low attendance due to the strike.

BJP has also called for a 12 hour strike in Malda protesting against Trinamool atrocities in Gaur College. It was reported that Trinamool has also organized a counter rally in which state Minister Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury participated.
