Siliguri: Dense fog over the Bagdogra Airport on Saturday grounded the flights and services remained suspended for the day. The passengers were left stranded as the weather declined to budge an inch and visibility was reduced to 1500 meters. For plane to take off a minimum of 2400 meters of visibility is required.
A total of 12 flights were suspended including one to Paro in Bhutan. The airport authorities initially assured the passengers that flights will soon be able to take off but later cancelled them triggering a severe outcry.
