Sen Commission interim report to be placed before assembly: Saradha scam

Kolkata: The Mamata Banerjee government has decided to place the interim report of Shyamal Sen Commission before the state assembly. The government rejected the final report of Sen Commission for the reason best known to it, and decided to put the interim report instead.

Earlier Nabanna officials declined to accept the final report presented by Justice Sen after he crossed the deadline by a few hours.

The Shyamal Sen Commission that was set up by chief minister Mamata Banerjee to identify the key persons responsible for the Saradha scam and return money to the depositors was wound up on October 22, in the year 2014.

Mamata Banerjee announced the decision to set up the commission under the leadership of retired justice Shyamal Sen on April 24 last year, just a few days after Sudipta Sen and Debjani Mukherjee were arrested from Kashmir.

As per sources within the state ministry, the report is likely to be placed in the next assembly session.
On the other hand, reacting to the news of discarding the final report and placing the interim report, Justice Sen said “ I am in no condition to made a comment, the decision is entirely the sole discretion of the state.”
