Mumbai: The Air Intelligence Unit of the Mumbai Customs has arrested a security officer of Etihad Airways on Tuesday for smuggling gold. He was arrested from the Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport of Mumbai.
Additional Commissioner of Customs Milind Lanjeowar said, “Security officer Dipak Golani has been arrested. He will be produced before court on Wednesday.” The arrest of Golani has taken the number of arrest of air staff to 18 in the current year.
On Tuesday morning a passenger named Sunil Jugwani who arrived from Abu Dhabi was detained at Mumbai Airport with 1348 gms of gold biscuits worth more than Rs 33 lakh in cigerrate packets. Both Golani and the passenger were detained when Jugwani was handing over the smuggled goods to him. They were arrested later.
