Srinagar: A terrorist has been killed in encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara. According to reports, a joint team of 28 Rashtriya Rifles and police launched a manhunt in Dardpora area of Lolab valley in Kupwara after receiving reports about 1-2 terrorists hiding in the region. A gunfight ensued between the security forces and terrorists in which a militant was killed. Combing operations are still on.
An Army Colonel was killed in Kupwara during an encounter with the terrorists in November last year. The Commanding Officer of 41 Rashtriya Rifles Colonel Santosh, who was leading a search party, was critically injured when terrorists hiding in a dense forest area of Haji Naka opened fire. Santosh, who was from the elite regiment of Para Commandos, was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to injuries.
