Kolkata: West Bengal State Election Commission after the verdict of Calcutta High Court and Supreme Court has announced that West Bengal Panchayat Election will be held on May 14, Monday.
Citizens will be able to cast their vote from 7 am to 5 pm in the afternoon. Election will take place in 31 thousand 836 gram panchayat, 622 panchayat samity. Apart from this, Election Commission assured compensation in to the officials working in election.
State Election Commission hold a meeting soon after the verdict of both courts. Reportedly, the counting will take place on May 17 in 330 block centers.
The schedule has been fixed on the basis of the goverment concern on security of election. Several case are going on regarding the deployment of para-military force in panchayat election. But state government said state police will be enough to tackle the one-day panchayat.
