Search Is On For Anyone Still Trapped: Police

Kolkata: No vehicles are trapped under the debris of the collapsed Majerhaat bridge
as according to a statement released by the police.

According to the statement, it said that a part of the Majerhaat bridge collapsed
at 4:40 in the evening. Five four-wheelers, three motorcycles/schooty and a mini-
bus got trapped. Immediately the rescue operation began. The disaster management
team of Kolkata Police, fire tending department, civil defence and National
Disaster Response Force (NDRF) jointly worked for the rescue work.

The statement added that within a less specualted time, 21 people were rescued and
rushed to the hospital. 10 were rushed to CMRI and 11 in SSKM. One is dead among
them in SSKM. The deceased is a male whose identity is yet to be known. The rest
are under treatment.

The statement further claimed that no more vehicles were trapped. However, it is
being ascertained and searched whether more people are still trapped.
