School to Return Ousted HIV Positive Boy

Baruipur: Unable to bear pressure from media,  the principal of a school near south 24 Parganas is about to return a boy whom they had earlier thrown out because of his HIV positive status. Child Welfare Department’s Minister Shashi Panja has ordered the South 24 Parganas child welfare committee to immediately return the HIV positive boy to school. The school had prohibited that student from coming to school last June.

The mother of that boy is also HIV positive. She works for a local NGO. After HIV positive condition of the boy was known, other parents started pressurizing the school authorities to take him out of school otherwise they will not send their students to school, was their warning. This situation forced the school authorities to prohibit the boy from coming to school.

According to the Mother of the socially harassed child, she got the news that her son will be returned to his school from media reports. She is expecting that her son can continue to go to school from Friday.
