Scarcity Of Drinking Water, TMC Councillor Faces Protest


Cooch Behar: The residents of Cooch Behar have taken to the streets in demand for drinking water. The demand for drinking water has been for a long time, but no solutions were attained yet. The locals, as a protest, blocked roads in demand for drinking water in Cooch Behar’s ward number 8.

The locals blocked the road from 9 in the morning till 11 on Tuesday. The blockade was withdrawn later on after assurance from the local councillor. The locals have alleged that they have been facing problems on drinking water since a long time. Despite of informing the municipality several times, nothing was done.

The locals claimed that there is no drinking water service since past three days for which they resorted to their protests on Tuesday. Local councillor Archana Ojha rushed to the spot but the locals started protesting all around the councillor.

The locals withdrew the protest after the councillor assured to install a pump within the next 7 days. Councillor of Cooch Behar municipal’s ward number 8 Archana Ojha has accepted the presence of such problems. The councillor claimed that the only water pump of the area was not working. Hence, the locals were facing problems. She assured that within the next seven days, the work for the installation of a new pump will begin.
