New Delhi: The apex court has turned down the appeal of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to argue in the Uphaar fire tragedy case claiming that they didn’t get enough time to argue for the case. The CBI had sought half an hour to present their statements which was denied by the Supreme Court.

Declining CBI’s plea for an opportunity to advance with the arguments on the points left out in the Uphaar fire tragedy, the SC asked the agency to file a review plea in the case. A review petition will be filed by the CBI and the family members of the victims of the tragedy in the case.

The SC had on Wednesday said that theatre owner Sushil & Gopal Ansal will not be spending any further time in jail. Instead the SC imposed a fine of Rs 60 crore on the Ansal brothers.
