Kolkata: Major blow for the Bengal government. Supreme Court on Monday stayed the arrest of Bharati Ghosh in connection with West Midnapore extortion case.
According to the sources, the arrest warrant against Bharati Ghosh issued in the case of West Midnapore extortion. Bharati Ghosh, approached Supreme Court against this order and SC gave verdict on this case on Monday.
Judge AK Sikri was hearing the case. After the hearing, the Supreme Court issued a stay on the arrest warrant of Bharati Ghosh. The suspension for the next three weeks will be in force. In this time period the former IPS officer of the state can not be arrested.
Initially Bharati Ghosh has alleged that state conspired against her. In this situation, the court wants to hear the statements of state and central government. They have been asked to submit their statement in this case within three weeks to the court. Bharati Ghosh was missing since leaving the job.
