New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday has issued notice to Surinder Kohli over Uttar Pradesh Government’s plea in the Nithari killings case. The court has issued notice against Allahabad High Court verdict to commute Koli’s death penalty into life term.
Koli was awarded death sentence in Rimpa Halder murder case of 2005. He was awarded life sentence by a lower court which was upheld by the Allahabad High Court and confirmed by the Supreme Court on 15 February 2011. The case came to light in December 2006 when the girl who went missing was found murdered later by Koli.
The investigations revealed that more children were murdered and their skeletal remains were recovered from a drain adjacent to the house where Koli was working as a domestic servent in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
