New Delhi: In another setback to AAP leader Somnath Baharati, the Supreme Court denied the former law minister bail in a case of domestic violence and attempt to murder filed by his wife Lipika Mitra.
The move came after Lipika told the Supreme Court that mediation was not a possibility follwing which the court directed Bharti to move his bail petition to the trial court.
The apex court also directed the trial court to dispose Somnath Bharti’s bail petition expeditiously.
The AAP MLA, who in under arrest in a domestic violence case filed by his wife Lipika, was sent to one day judicial custody by Saket District Court on Sunday. Somnath, however, has rejected all allegations against him.
“All allegations against me are false. Truth will come out soon,” Bharti told mediapersons while being taken to the court on Sunday.
The police have also added Section 212 of the Indian Penal Code or IPC (harbouring offender) in the First Information Report (FIR) registered against Bharti, and said that so far they have identified five people who allegedly sheltered the legislator while he was on the run.
