Kolkata: Hours after he was questioned for the second time by CBI in the Saradha scam, Trinamool Congress (TMC) state general secretary Shankudeb Panda was on Monday removed from his post, a senior TMC leader said.
“He has been removed from all party posts with immediate effect, but he will continue to be a member of the party,” TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee told.
Mr Panda, while reacting to the move, said, “I accept my party’s decision and won’t say anything to the media.” He was grilled for the second time on Monday by the CBI in connection with the Saradha chit fund scam.
The central agency had earlier interrogated the TMC leader, who was attached to the Saradha Group as a journalist, on December 2.
Mr Panda had earlier been grilled in December, 2014 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), also probing the multi-crore scam, in which several Trinamool leaders have been accused of wrongdoing.
