New Delhi: Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami seems to be in troubled waters after being named by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for attempting to stop the arrest of former Union Minister Matang Singh in connection with the Saradha scam.
Sources claimed that the senior Home Ministry official will have to clarify the reason behind his interference into the probe. A Joint Director level officer of the CBI is also under the scanner in connection with the scam.
Prime minister’s Office has been informed about the attempt made by Goswami to stall the arrest of Matang singh in the Saradha scam.
Singh was arrested by the central investigating agency in Kolkata for allegations of criminal conspiracy, cheating and misappropriation of funds in the chitgate scam.
Matang Singh was called to the CBI office in Kolkata and interrogated for nearly four hours before being arrested. The sleuths alleged that he was not cooperating in the investigation.
