Kolkata: The CBI has served notice to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation seeking details regarding the Corporation’s trade licenses to various agencies of Saradha chit fund. Allegations have been levelled against Mayor Shovan Chatterjee and the KMC for favouring Saradha unduly.
As per reports, CBI has served a notice to the Corporation on June 4, seeking details of the documents produced by Saradha boss Mr. Sudipta Sen for acquiring the trade licenses. The Corporation has been asked by the agency to submit a detailed report within June 15.
Earlier, CBI sent a letter to Nabanna seeking a report on the steps taken by the state administartion to curtail the menace of the chit funds in West Bengal.
Many key leaders of the ruling Trinamool government is bogged in the Saradha scam with many like Madan Mitra and Kunal Ghosh still behind the bars.
