Kolkata: After an interrogation session with Arnab Ghosh, Central Bureau Of Interrogation on Monday issued fresh summons to senior police official Dilip Hazra to question on Saradha Chit Fund Scam.
Hazra worked under Kumar, when he was the Bidhannagar Police Commissioner and were part of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that first probed the multi-crore rupee ponzi scam case before the CBI took over.
The Supreme Court on May 17 withdrawn the protection from arrest granted to former Kolkata Commissioner of Police Rajeev Kumar by its February 5 order. Last Monday, CBI summoned him but he did not appear before the court. As per the court order, police not able to arrest him till July 10. But he must appear before CBI on daily basis.
The investigating authority already informed all the airports and immigration authorities to prevent him from leaving the country and intimate the agency about any such move.
On the other hand, another police official Arnab Ghosh interrogated for back-to-back two days on May 29 at CGO Complex. The central agency had grilled IPS Ghosh for more than 16 hours on Wednesday and Thursday about the progress of the investigation by the SIT and about the seizure made during that time, a part of which had allegedly not been handed over to the CBI.
Last Friday, West Bengal police handed over four trunks full of files and documents related to the Saradha Chit Fund scam investigation to the CBI officials. CBI also summoned DCP CID Shankar Bhattacharyya on this.
