Santiniketan Celebrates Festival Of Colour, ‘Basanta Utsav’


Bolpur: Santiniketan celebrates the festival of colour in a traditional manner followed by a series of cultural program. The program is going in the Visva-Bharati ground commonly ‘ashram prangan’. The tagorian style of celebrating spring festival is unique and widely accepted among people and across the world.

The 87-year-old tradition from the time of Rabindranath Tagore is that women wear yellow or saffron saris and men white dhotis and panjabi.

People all around the world have gathered to witness and participate in the festival of colour known as Basanta Utsav.

Students of Patha Bhavana have participated in the program accompanied with Sangeet Bhavana students.

Former and present ‘ashramik’ gathered to celebrate the festival. Professsors, principles have also joined the morning prayer inside the campus.
