‘Sand Mafia’ strikes again, mows constable down in MP

Morena: A police constable was mowed down by sand truck on Sunday in Morena district of Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred when the constable was trying to stop the truck carrying illegally mined sand from Chambal River near a village in Morena.

Superintendent of Police Navneet Bhasin said, “The dumper was carrying illegally mined sand. When the constable tried to stop the truck, driver ran him over.”

In March 2012, IPS officer Narendra Kumar was mowed down by a tractor allegedly owned by sand mafia in Morena district. A CBI probe was later conducted into the killing and the accused, Manoj Gurjar, was arrested. He was later awarded a 10-year jail term under IPC section 304
