Cooch Behar & Krishnanagar: Ruthless reality claimed the lives of 3 CRPF Jawans among the 26 who were from 2 districts of West Bengal. Tears, wails greet those who pass through their villages in Cooch Behar and Nadia. Such shocking is the reality.
Inspite of support from the Centre and the State, the deadly attack has left their families wounded eternally. Neither Cooch Behar’s Vivekananda Street nor Nadia’s Karimpur can digest the fact that their own son is no more. The small village at the Abhaypur’s Indo-Bangladesh border is silent today.
No words can console the wife who just lost his husband. She was married to Krishnakanta Das not for so long. The mother of another martyr is speaking things out of sorrow, sounding different to others. Their relatives have assembled to console the families, but can they? 27 year old Krishnakanta was the SI of CRPF. He got married on February 1 this year. News of his death has completely broken the family. His body is likely to reach his home in the evening on Tuesday.
CRPF Jawan Arup Karmakar was martyrd on Monday in the Maoist attack at Sukma in Chattishgarh. He was the younger among 3 siblings. He had 2 elder sisters. Arup was working in the CRPF since almost 4 years. After completion of his training, this was his first posting. His father Amit Karmakar had closed down his business after his son got his job. Thus Arup was the only earning member to his family. His mother is a housewife. Arup had saved very few amount of money for his sisters’ marriage. He had called up his father to give him the news of his posting.
But this happiness was temporary. The family received the news of Arup through the television channels. Post this, they received an official call to confirm it. Their son was no more. He is a martyr of this country.
