Mumbai: The judgment day in the 2002 hit and run case involving actor Salman Khan on May 6, as announced by Judge D W Deshpande before a packed court today.
The trial of the same commenced in April last year.
The enhanced charge under which Khan has been booked, i.e. Section 304 Part II of the IPC, carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment.
The case took a dramatic turn when one of the defence witness Ashok Singh, told the court that it was him and not Khan who was behind the wheel on the night of the unfortunate incident.
Khan who alleged to have been driving drunk also told the court that he had only been drinking water during his visit to the Rain Bar and J W Marriot. However, the chemical analyzer had earlier informed the court that his blood tested positive for alcohol, twice as much as the permissible limit.
