Salman Unveils First Look Of ‘Mom’ Starring Sridevi

Mumbai: Filmmaker Boney Kapoor’s last two productions, Satish Kaushik’s 2010 romantic comedy Milenge Milenge and Amit Ravindernath Sharma’s 2015 action film Tevar, bombed at the box office. However, his next might redeem his production house as it stars his lucky charm, his wife Sridevi.

This marks the third time the yesteryear actor is collaborating with Boney after Shekhar Kapur’s 1987 blockbuster Mr. India and Satish Kaushik’s 1993 disaster Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. However, her last outing with Gauri Shinde’s 2012 slice of life film English Vinglish proved to be a success at the box office and also got a thumbs up from the critics.

Now, reports that she will play a lawyer in Mom which will see her in conflict with her stepdaughter, played by Sajal Aly. Boney got another lucky charm, Salman Khan, to unveil the first look of the film.

Deccan Chronicle reports that the first look was launched at an awards function by Salman Khan, who said that the three Khans have done 250-275 films combined but Sridevi, who started her career as a child artiste at the age of four with the 1969 film Thunaivan, has done over 300 films in Indian cinema.

The first look of the film features a side profile of the actor who sports another de-glam look after her last Hindi film, English Vinglish. The word ‘mom’ written in over a dozen scripts are peppered all over her figure. Her expression and body language suggest that she is stern yet vulnerable.

The Times of India reports that Nawazuddin Siddiqui will share screen space with Sridevi as he will do a guest appearance in the film. Daily Times reports that Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui is also a part of the film, his second international project after A Mighty Heart. The film also stars Akshaye Khanna and Abhimanyu Singh. It is directed by Ravi Udyawar.
Mom is slated to release on 14 July.
