Saffron Haj House in Lucknow Raised Controversy

Lucknow : The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, painted the green-and-white exterior wall of the Haj House in Lucknow saffron, a move which was opposed by opposition parties and some Muslims in the state.

The Opposition accused Yogi Adityanath government of triggering communal tension by painting exterior wall of the Haj House in the saffron hue.

However, Uttar Pradesh Waqf and Haj Minister Mohsin Raza defended the move and said the opposition parties are diverting attention from real issues. “There is no need for controversy in such things, saffron is an energetic and bright looking colour, the building looks beautiful.

The opposition has no big issues against us so they raise inconsequential things,” Raza said.
Earlier the Uttar Pradesh had painted the secretariat annexe building, which houses the offices of CM Yogi Adityanath and top bureaucrats, saffron on a part of the facade and boundary wall.

The state government had also rolled out saffron buses. The various booklets and posters issued by the public relations department and ministries these days have elements of saffron on its pages.
