Russia ready to accept Syrian refugees

Moscow: The Children’s Rights Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation, Pavel Astakhov, on Thursday, announced the preparedness of Russia to accept the Syrian refugees.

According to IRNA, this senior Russian official added that his country maintains the necessary social and cultural conditions for acceptance of the Syrian immigrants. For instance, he referred to the acceptance of thousands of Ukrainian orphans by Russia, who have lost their families or have been driven out of their homes in the wake of war.

He went on to point out that the Syrian refugees, who come to Russia, are not hungry or needy people, and are from the middle class stratum, which are looking for a safe place to live, and appropriate conditions should be established for them to work, and for their children to continue their studies.

Currently, Russia is host to several thousand Syrian refugees.
